The World's First Planetary Gear Powered Espresso Machine

Constant High Pressure = Exceptional Espresso.

COFFEEJACK Pro's advanced high-torque planetary gearing system produces the same extraction pressure and profile control as traditional lever espresso machines, but without the need for a bulky handle. The result is a device that’s only a fraction of the size, yet capable of producing the highest grade espresso whether you’re at home or exploring the outdoors.

It is the only espresso machine in the world to use this technology.

COFFEEJACK Pro reaches pressure over 130 psi—that’s four times the pressure of an average car tyre.

The unit works great and was worth the wait. I literally just had to bring it to the office because our coffee machine is out for repairs

CoffeeJack listened to feedback on the original (tight!!) soft case, and have come up with this really good “Grab ‘n’ Go” version. A great addition to the range.

I have gathered the CoffeeJack v2 kit, each piece complete, like a monk with his bowl and robe. I grind the beans as finely as my tool permits, and in the quiet of the wild, I draw forth espresso rich and fragrant. This choice was wise, and it bears good fruit.

Even beneath the open sky, far from house and hearth, the brew I make is of fine quality. Such moments are not small; they are reminders that joy arises when preparation meets presence.

I also count myself fortunate to have supported this project in its beginning, as a backer on Kickstarter. Indeed, to plant a seed and later taste its fruit is a quiet happiness. May my cups in the wilderness continue to bring clarity, contentment, and a mindful pause amid the trees.

I feel this was a very ambitious kickstarter project. I think the end result is extremely good and I am grateful to finally have mine. Previously in the portable market you had a levered piston (Flair, Robot) or a mechanical pump system (Picopresso, Outin) to generate the pressure needed to extract espresso. I am sorry, you cannot get espresso quality coffee with an Aeropress or Moka pot. The geared piston machine he came up with is really nice. It is heavy, but solid in construction and feel. The grease kit "upgrade" was handled as well as can be expected for this early project roll out. Does it make a great espresso? Undoubtably yes! Am I happy with my purchase? Yes! It has replaced my Piccopresso as my travel kit. It is not space or weight friendly, but compared to an actual electric pump machine, there is no contest. It is easy and fun to use. This is the product I was hoping for, and I am betting will spur on more refined versions by others in the future. I would give it 5 stars, except how well it holds up, ease in maintenance, and support are unknown at this time. I am pleased this product made it this far, and I hope others will continue to support it. The quality in the cup is worth it in my opinion.

Of all the portable espresso machines I've tried, this one is undoubtedly the best-performing, since it allows you to manually control the variables; it's very practical, consistent, and delivers excellent results.

Quite probably the best thing I’ve backed on Kickstarter. A really super device, looks great, lovely to use and most importantly makes a smashing cup of coffee. I’ve used it for coffee in the kitchen, in the road and up hills. Just love it!

My new daily coffee maker. I make quality espresso every day using medium roast beans from Rounton coffee in Yorkshire UK. Like all espresso machines it is essential to use an espresso capable grinder. Once you dial it in, this machine is a pleasure to use. Very consistent, easy to turn and control pressure and flow. I use it with the optional stand (with the essential adaptor). The stock basket is perfect. I have tried a couple of alternatives and to me this has the right balanced flow.
I have backed Coffeejack all the way through. There have been teething issues with delivery and and unfortunate technical issue with the first machines sent out. However, Coffeejack sorted the issue out and it now works absolutely brilliantly. Its robust and well made and a very clever design. i would say it is a near perfect manual espresso machine. Making espresso is not easy - it takes a while to master. With this machine once that learning has been absorbed and you have developed your skills it is fantastic. I twin it with the Nanofoamer Pro v2 from Subliminal for milk to make my morning flat whites. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The project had a few hurdles to overcome during the Kickstarter phase, but they were handled with a strong focus on the customer, and the support was and is extremely professional. Now I have a coffee machine that treats me with consistently delicious espresso. The machine’s design is really top notch, and it’s also great for traveling. As for accessories, I’d recommend the travel mug for trips and, in general, the COFFEEJACK holder, which makes extraction a bit easier. In short words you will not regred when you spend your money for a COFFEEJACK V2

Let me start off by saying that I love the Coffeejack V2. It is sleek, works beautifully and has the potential to make excellent espresso. I have been using it for the last two months very frequently and it's been a really fun machine to get to know.

It is a hefty piece of kit weighing in at over 1 kg, so a stand is definitely recommended (which they luckily sell on their website). It can take around 80 grams of water, so not a huge capacity but for most use-cases perfectly workable. The basket is standard and can take around 15 to 18 grams of coffee, depending on roast level. I love the textures and finish of the CJV2, having an exposed naked basket is lovely to see and the planetary gearbox is one of the most satisfying things to watch while pulling a shot of espresso.

The workflow is straightforward and repeatable and the pressure gauge is super helpful. I've spent a good amount of time trying out a bunch of different styles of espresso and most are viable (with a few that aren't possible due to its capacity).

Traditional espresso works very well on the CJV2. I usually go for 18 grams in and 44 grams out in around 30 seconds and, once dialed in, it works beautifully. Take some time to get the grind size right and you'll be flying. I haven't really tried it with anything darker than a light medium but I am sure dark roasts work beautifully on the CJV2. This also counts for ristretto shots. Lungos are trickier due to the capacity. It's doable, at least at a 1:3 ratio, but beyond that it gets harder, so no allongés, sadly. A pre-infusion is easy to achieve as well. I usually turn the handle about 10 times, then stop for a few seconds until the bottom of the basket is saturated, then I turn until the pressure reaches 8 to 9 bar after which I slowly decline the pressure. Very much a lever style shot.

Turbo shots are very easy on the CJV2. A slightly coarser grind, and I mean slightly as small changes make big differences on this device, and you're flying. 18 g in and 50 g out in under 20 seconds usually works well for me with a fast flowrate and less than 6 bars of pressure. A quick pre-infusion with a few turns helps with evenness.

And soup, the newest kid in town, is where it gets a little more complicated. It works and I usually go for 18 grams of fairly coarse coffee and I just turn it until all the water goes through. After that, dillute as necessary. I have enjoyed CJV2 soup pulled like this and topping it up to 100 grams total. It's definitely a fun one to mess around with, especially because it's really easy to do and get in the ballpark of. Make sure not to raise pressure to more than 2 bar, fast flow and finish that brew in under 15 seconds. I usually turn it once or twice until the bottom is saturated and then just turn until everything comes out.

I enjoyed using the pressure transducer. It's a really good way to get very accurate pressure readings along with times while you're pulling a shot, it's great for logging your brews and makes it a little easier to see what you're doing as your hand frequently moves over the regular pressure gauge. It's a bit pricey and the app doesn't connect to Bookoo scales, so keep that in mind.

A few minor critiques I have to round off this review: It's heavy, so travelling with it is quite impractical. Not a big issue, just makes its use-case slightly smaller. The silicone grip is a little loose, so when gripping it tightly it can come off the metal a bit, which makes holding it a little less stable. More reason for the stand. I will also say, having used it a bunch, the stand is almost a necessity. It works without it but due to its weight it becomes difficult to really use it as effectively as possible. Not a deal-breaker but definitely something to keep in mind.

I can understand some of the negativity regarding CoffeeJack V2 because of the delays involved, but this really is to be expected with a Kickstarter. And honestly the wait was well worth it. It truly is an amazing machine, beautifully engineered and the coffee it produces for such a small machine is absolutely outstanding. Perfectly portable for taking in luggage on a Hotel trip or in my campervan for adventures, and it has become my go-to machine for use at home.

It fits perfectly and looks good. I will say, this probably should be the standard bag for the Coffeejack V2 going forward as it is a significant upgrade to the little fabric one.

Whilst it took a while to get the machine and get it working, I am impressed by the ownership and resolution provided. As to the product, I love it. The build quality is superb and once one dials in the right grind the quality of the espresso it produces is excellent. While it is certainly portable, I wouldn't personally carry it on a hike as it is quite heavy, but I would carry it on holiday without question.

I am very pleased with my CJv2. It is well built, well designed and of high quality. It really does what it is designed for, after you have followed and understood the steps of prep, setup and use. It does make very good coffee. I have found regardless of what type, grade or roast of beans you ground. The coffee that comes out of the CJv2 is always very smooth and rich.
It's a KickStart Project so there will always be some hiccups and bumps along the way, that is the journey for anything that we do in life to achieving success or our goals. So regardless of that CJv2 has been a 5 star project from start to finish and beyond.
